President Buhari congratulate Gambia president elect

President Muhammadu Buhari seems to have congratulated the President-elect of The Gambia , Mr Adama Barrow , on his triumphant in the country’s presidential election .


The President and also saluted the energy of statesmanship demonstrated by the out-going President of the country , Alhaji Yahya Jammeh , by conceding triumph over . 

In an opinion declared by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity , Mr Femi Adesina , on Saturday in Abuja , Buhari said that such unusual gesture was vital in consolinganxieties of unrest in the West African nation .While explaining pleasure at the gallantry demonstrated by Jammeh , President Buhari enjoined President-elect Barrow to be magnanimous in triumphant .

The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN ) recent reports that Rival candidate Adama Barrow , won the Gambian presidential polls with 263 ,515 votes , the Gambian electoral commission stated on Friday . 

The commission’s chair , Alieu Njie , stated he was pursued by out-going President Yahya Jammeh with 212 ,009 votes when Mama Kandeh , the 3rd candidate in the running , came 3rd with 102 ,969 votes . 

NAN reports that Jammeh , who acquired ruled the country for 22 years , had since admitted defeat .
