The Federal government has made stopped importation of motor vehicles into Nigeria along the land borders .
The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service ( NCS ) , Mr Wale Adeniyi , stated this in a splash made available to newsmen on Monday in Lagos

Based on the announcement , the prohibition condition will cover new and used motor vehicles .“The ban is sequel to a Presidential directive limiting almost all motor vehicleimports to Nigerian seaports mainly .
“The command will take impact from Jan . 1 , 2017 .
“ The constraint on importation of motor vehicles entails that of rice , whose imports are being stopped from the land boundaries since April 2016 .
“ Importers of motor vehicles through the land boundaries are wanted to adopt the grace moment up till Dec . 31 , 2016 to thoroughly clean their motor vehicle imports landed in neighbouring ports , ’’ the News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN ) quotes the statement as saying .
